This short post"Quick Tips to Teach Social Skills to Shy Students" introduces one of very important skills for teachers to lead a successful classroom.

Working as an English teacher, one of the most challenging moment was facing very shy students in class. As a teacher of language, I had to arouse and encourage student’s interaction and participation to develop their better language skills. But, when facing students who were struggling with shyness and reluctant to say out loud, I couldn't successfully encourage them to join the class activley and give proper feedback for better participation. The author stresses the importance of eye contact and teaching shy students the skills to assert themselves. And also, he emphasizes teachers keep it in mind that shy students mostly like being called by their name. Lastly, he introduces class activity( role play) which let students know and undersand each other better. And also, through this activity, students can know how to greet and compliment someone, start conversations and continue conversations.

Social networking group

I like the http://www.classroom20.com/photo, which is the most active cite that I have found. I can see lots of useful categories here. I think I will be able to get most all of the information that I will need for class. Most importantly, I think I can learn lots of new technology skill. Frankly, I am really poor at technology. I have tried to avoid using technology as much as possible in my previous classes. But I know that It is definitely true that with the assistance of technology, learners can have more diverse learning environment and feel more fun learning. This cite looks useful and good. But, I was, at the beginning, a bit overwhelmed by too many information that the cite provides. It will take long to get familiar with them. But, it deserves taking time and taking my energy.

And also, through communication with the user of this site, I can get a lot of updated information, current educational issues, or practical advices from real world experiences of the users.(most of them seem to work as teacher or used to work or to plan to be a teacher)

P.S. I was very sick yesterday. Sorry for the late post!

Today 's learners in this diverse environemnt...

brain being used to its full capacity Today 's learners is like a brain being used to the full capacity.....

Everyday society is being changed. Current developments with technology maybe works in part. Learners are being exposed to new pouring of knowledge every single day. Even if they are out of classroom and they are not pushing themsevles to, they, in daily life, can easily access thousands of updated information and enter the new community through online . In this diverse society, what can learners do for better learning?

Siemens (2005) said, “The pipe is more important than the content within the pipe. Our ability to learn what we need for tomorrow is more important than what we know today.” What my understadning about this sentences is that " Learners should have capacity for new learning information." As an example, Knowing well how to use the technology and social network will be one way. And also, learners will be required to choose ,selevtively, what is right for them out of pouring of knowledge and link the learning to real life and lastly, develop negotiation and social skills for better communication with others.

3 ways that I want to use for my class

Creating a class blog..

I want to use it for my future class. It will be a good review or preview material.
As the author said, it can give students a plenty of examples related to classwork such as vocabulary activities, grammar games or reading materials. Comments between students can work as a feedback to class. It will help them understand what they learned in previous class and encourage them join the next class more actively. And also teachers can design next class from those feedback.

Creating students’ own blog..

By creating their own blog, they can learn how to blog. They can write comments, opinions about their interest and class. It can be the portfolio of their assignment which can be used to check their progress. In their own blog, they can feel free to express their opinion about the class, which makes teacher know about them better.

Encouraging students..

Having students to blog their reactions to questions or photos or post their ideas about class will encourage them join the class more actively. Some students who are afraid of speaking out in class can be more likely to express their opinions on blog.
